Gen Z only cares about how the world perceives them at the lowest cost possible.. yet want to look successful/ rich.
Hence the aesthetics of the Apple Card is a great fit for them, even though its relatively a starter card compared to what knowledgeable people actually use.

Great video, but Sebby your math needs (). It's visually easier to read.

As a Gen Z I have the Amex green, gold and platinum. Tbh I’m more worried about credit limits and benefits. Annual fee doesn’t bother me much unless it’s the Amex platinum but as long I can maximize my benefits on the card I’ll be fine.

I wonder how much of this is generational differences vs just age differences. Of course younger people with low to negative net worth are going to value no fees and protections, seeing as they're less likely to be able to afford things like replacing a phone without using a credit or loan product that charges interest. People's behaviors and preferences change as they age and these FinTech companies may be trying to capture the younger demos before they grow up and build them into lifelong customers. If this is an age thing, I believe the will lose some people in the long run if they don't try and provide the same kind of rewards as the legacy banks do with transferable currencies. These small players will need to add premium products if they want to keep their customer bases while they age.

I think you mentioned in another video that Capital One was buying fintech companies. How does that fit into this new credit card meta?

I’m Gen Z and I think you’re close to it, but just a bit off the nose. I think it’s true that this generation values no annual fees and insurance etc, but I feel like Motely Fool implies that it’s because we’re necessarily low income or recession traumatized. While that might true for folks, I think the real reason is that Gen Z values transparency and is tired of old evil companies that nickel and dime and charge fees for basic things. Paper statement fee, overdraft fee, existence fee, yada yada. Apple is appealing because it’s simple and transparent. No hidden fees, everything is in the open, you don’t need to do crazy math to figure out if you’re getting secretly screwed or not, it’s just simple. Same reason we shop Warby Parker and not LensCrafters, SoFi and not Bank of America. That’s my opinion and I think my generations opinion, millennial man. Good content ❤️

The problem with the Gen Z argument in this stage is the same as it was for the Millennial generation early on… Income and disposable income. That's why the stuff which trends to that demographic just doesn't pan out as the horizon is too far out to be realized.

As an OG millennial (and one who hates being lumped in) I was a late bloomer financially and I wouldn't have made them diddly squat in my 20s and early 30s. Now that I can ball on a budget I don't care about annual fees and AMEX has my full attention. Anecdotal, yes, but relevant.

Why are people always separating each other. Gander, age, year born, decade born, Gen X, Millennial, black white brown.
Kinda wack if you ask me

A debit card would have to do way better on net rewards than a credit card to compensate for the increased security risk of being directly linked to my money. Until these Fintech companies offer credit cards I'm uninterested.

Not impressed at all by these "DEBIT" cards lol. Smart people don't use debit cards lol. Even when there are perks

Apple is a perfect GenZ card because it's the worst card in terms of rewards but has no fee. 1% is on the lower end of cash back compared to Chase Freedom Unlimited

Kind of surprised you didn’t mention SoFi, they have a nice “checking” product focus on low no / low fees, a credit card that is good and the student loan refi core that lets them act as a hub.

I applied for the Chase IHG Premier card Friday evening and the application is still pending decision? What gives. I'm only at 3/24 and have excellent credit. I've always just been immediately approved after applying for a card.
