On this week’s show we have so much to cover including the return of several prominent Las Vegas buffets and the destruction of one of the most unique theaters in town. We also give you an update on Virgin Hotels Las Vegas (not doing well) and detail the many many fireworks shows you’ll be able to see in Vegas over the 4th of July Weekend.
Plus we dive into Resorts World Las Vegas and discuss what we liked about this new megaresort and what we didn’t. Both of us stayed at the Conrad and spent a lot of time at #ResortsWorld and left impressed, but the place is far from perfect. Find out what you need to know about Resorts World Las Vegas plus how to score a $150 bonus with their cashless gaming system.

Another great video, thanks for the impartial opinions!
If resorts world doesn't cool it with their rediculas prices they're gonna be another imperial palace
If you buy fireworks at Pahrump, DO NOT bring them over to CA! Authorities are pulling folks over just to check for fireworks! If Virgin gave me comp rooms, I would go there. Thanks for the $150 tip
Thank you to our hosts Shawn and Mark. Appreciate your input. Sorry about La Reve. sounds like a spectacular pool theatre. Glad buffets are returning.
Wynn buffet was my favourite on weekends with a crepes station and other specialty items.
Mark’s black hat and the wall covering behind him, cause a distortion, sorry if this is meaningless.
I stayed at the virgin this past week (sun-wed) and I gotta say I liked it. Stayed at a canyon tower room and I was able to open the doors to the pool balcony along with chromcast for the tv. For me having the chill factor to hang in the beach pool too made it a vibe.
When is the MTM Vegas podcast? The Google Podcast only has a video that's 2 seconds long and it says "error"
Too bad re Virgin’s quietude – it does however fail to answer the question, “why should I go there?” – much prefer Palms (RIP) for off strip (shark bar and Lucky Penny flapjacks!).
Great info guys. Thanks!
MGM continues to haul cash! MGM just sold another of their trophy properties (Aria & Vdara).
Virgin would have been better off not partnering with Mohegan for the gaming because those of us on the east coast familiar with them know that they have notoriously tight slots and high minimums and just not worth it with other options available.
The Plaza downtown in the 80s was the place to go…I still stumble in when I go to Vegas just to kick the tires and reminisce about the good old days.
Can I overpay my Visa account to get a credit balance and then use a cash advance against that credit balance to avoid the cash advance fees?
The NBA All-Star game l remember some casinos locked their doors to keep the out of hand NBA fans out.
And l was the Monday after and found a empty 9mm shell casing in the room at MGM the house keeping missed smh.
Great discussion. But my heart sank about Le Reve. It is/was the best show in town. I went 3 times with family…3 different stories/versions of the show. It was magic to me. I enjoyed sitting on the ends of the aisles where you could get a close up look at the performers. Amazing athleticism, the art, the artists, the music, the venue…Le Reve est mort. My hope is that there will be a place for all the performers, crew and anyone involved with that fabulous show.
So sad about LeReve i never had the chance to see it. People are always looking for a reason to go to Vegas so having events there is always a good idea. I feel bad for Virgin, but i don't see how they thought they were giving ppl something they needed. 4th of July is going to be off the chain

I, like Mark thought the hawker center/street eats, would have its own area, it looks like a mall food court, don't like it. Plaza was the first hotel i ever stayed at in the 90's, always loved it.
why isnt Mark laughing
Did not know that Le Reve (check spelling in your YouTube header) was not coming back. The numbers I heard several years ago (from a very good source) was that the Le Reve Show after all the bills were paid made $11 million per year for Wynn Resorts whereas their nightclubs after all expenses made $70 million per year. But you are drawing often different audiences with shows versus nightclubs. Wynn Resorts is a nice venue and I've liked their other shows with Spamalot and Avenue Q, etc. but Le Reve did have staying power. Anyway, thanks for the news albeit sad news. I think these Strip Resorts getting away from live entertainment such as the bloodbath at Caesars Entertainment with many shows being axed is a huge mistake. Entertainment is a key difference-maker for Las Vegas with the huge number of shows with something for every palate. Keep up the great work!!
What’s up with the Upgraded? Merch?
Thanks for the Vegas updates. Imagine we were thinking of open our store at Virgin. Lucky we didn’t due to the low traffic.
It appears most of the properties don’t want to do a dinner buffet because they don’t want to pay the staff. The best thing about virgin old hard. Rock is the dive bars nearby.
I dread the day every activity in a Vegas resort is going to be managed by interacting through your smart phone. I'm personally trying to use my phone less, not more
– On RW especifically, first impressions from the videos and commentary I've seen, just a soulless huge piece of concrete ready to nickel and dime the hell out of tourists, not a fan but I certainly will check it out next time I'm in Vegas –
On the Virgin hotel, I just cannot see any reason to take time out of my day to get there, it's off Strip and not a destination for anything as far as I see –
Plaza is my favorite place to play single line bonus deluxe they have the best VP machines downtown if you know where to look.
Breakfast buffets should be affordable and not all you can eat. They should give you a long plate and let you put on it some eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes/waffles, maybe a cut of steak or giant shrimp, some fruits and veggies — and call it a day. Add to it quality smooth as silk coffee (large cup) and sell it for $19.99. No fees, no coffee charges, no tips. Small kids get a smaller plate for $10. That's reasonable for all involved. Far fewer cooks, far fresher food, faster, cheaper — and BETTER.
Can I get the $150 bonus if I put up $1,000 in cash? I only carry cash, no cards, no bank accounts, just pockets full of cash
So much to comment on!
Wynn/Encore is finally entering the post-Steve Wynn era with the closing of Le Reve and upcoming decisions on what to do with their extra land. My guess is the Le Reve space will be turned into another concert theater or a cocktail lounge similar to Vanderpump.
Las Vegas will be insane anytime they host a Super Bowl. Hopefully not as crime-infested as when the NBA All-Star game was played there. I worked at Bellagio at the time, and that was the first time I felt unsafe simply walking through the hotel and the Strip, especially at night.
$40 for breakfast foods is still just too much, but Bellagio will have long lines of people willing to do so. I remember the good old days when their breakfast buffet was $17.95. At this point, I’m going to skip buffets entirely on my upcoming trip. You can get a nice, leisurely, quality breakfast for less than that at Grand Luxe Cafe or Mon Ami Gabi, and cheap, nice breakfasts at a number of restaurants in the Miracle Mile Shopping Center at Planet Hollywood. BTW, the Circus Circus buffet may be a hit financially, but with that food I could never call it a success.

The Plaza has a nice pool. It may not be the best, but they do have plenty of pickle ball courts!
Virgin Hotel… feel bad for the staff, but who didn’t see this coming? It doesn’t help that they can’t bring U.K. visitors on package tour anytime soon, and that their pools, while nice, aren’t any better than, say, Red Rock Station, which has a nicer casino, rooms, restaurants and a far better location for people who want to stay away from the Strip. I would never play at that Virgin casino, it is depressing.
Resorts World, definitely mixed feelings. If reasonably priced, the rooms are fine, minus the missing bathtubs. The casino is beautiful, with machines spaced out nicely, nice decor, and a ceiling ripped off from Wynn.
Hate the carpeting, though. Street Eats is disappointing: the ordering system is a mess, food takes too long to receive, most of the food is overpriced, the service fee charged is a ripoff, and Mark is correct that the location has issues due to casino noise and the overly loud music from the retail area. The retail area, until more stores open, is only worth a visit for exercise, just like the rest of us older people who walk around malls for exercise.
The pools are nice, I appreciate the extra spaces with chairs and hammocks, but there are easily a half-dozen better pools on the Strip. The cashless system I would never use, waiting for the first report of someone hacking their systems. Their high roller casino, though, is gorgeous and so are the lobby areas. Overall, I would just stay at Wynn or Venetian and just visit Resorts World.
Great, information-packed video!
@Miles to Memories Vegas
, Sorry for the randomness of this question, but you guys are so well versed in all things pertaining to Vegas, has anyone heard if Phantom might make a comeback at Venetian ? Reve is a total heartbreak, the same way I was devastated when Phantom left Venetian.
And excellent Kudos to both of you, for the efforts you make to inform all of us from week to week.
From a big fan of yours in Cali …
Great show guys! I just visited Resorts World last week, and personally was very impressed overall with the property. Im looking forward to going again once everything is finished. Also as a Vegas nerd, I'll definintly tuning in to the MTM podcast!
For what it's worth, the $150 promo ended a few days back. Just tried it this morning, July 8.
Hi Shawn and Mark! Wow, what a LOT of great information! I already know that I am not going to stay at Virgin Hotel in Vegas! However, RW is a go! CAB
i wonder whats happening at the land for the old Frontier?
The big shows are the main reason I come to Las Vegas , Bring people to Las Vegas. “You’ve got to see cirque”. So hopefully they’re not too much smaller and most of the big shows come back
What is with the "Upgraded" shirts? Also, Resorts World is overpriced! I'll visit, maybe eat there, see a show, but won't gamble or stay. Just seems to be badly run operation.
I have stayed at resort world. Great food, beautiful pool, spacious gambling area and good service. I enjoyed staying there.
Resorts World is a major disappointment, basically boring.
