Just finished my spend on both (personal and business) cards, shooting for the two-year bonus. Question: Does my "companion" fly free if I pay for my ticket with "points"?

I have mixed feelings about the new offer. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the previous 60k bonus offer, either, which required $12k spend. I had my wife take a different route:
(1) Southwest business card: 60k on $3k
(2) Southwest personal “inflight offer”: 50k on $2k
So $1k more in spend than the current ONE card offer, but get companion pass for 2 years and 110k points, instead of 1 year and 30k points only.
sigh The Preffered I got this week puts me at 5/24. Gotta wait till next January haha… How good is the chase trifecta nowadays anyway

What happen when two outbound flights have the same date but different inbound flights, will we qualify for the companion fare for outbound flight at least ?
Not as good as the regular method for 2 years with 2 cards. Not only is it 2 years but you get many more points to use.
I'm at 10/24 so that card isn't currently an option lol
So if you spend $4000 within 3 months, doesn't that make the Companion Pass actually worth 8 months? Or does it kick in once $4000 is spent?
last year southwest had a promotion for California residents. All I had to do is get the credit card and spend any amount on it from 1 dollar or 100 and I got the companion pass automatically for a year.
My credit score flopped from 780 to 669 on Experian with 1 hard inquiry and I got rejected by Chase…..like how the heck…bogus crap. Breakdown: 54 points on inquiry and another 57 for 8% credit utilization. What in the world Sebby????

So I just completed the spend on the business card this week that I got in December.
I was about to apply for the personal to complete the 2 year companion pass. So my question is.. if I get the personal one.. will the one year companion pass kick in after I reach minimum spend or will I get the two years??
One has to wonder if Chase would allow someone who just opened a Southwest card in the past 30-60 days, to switch promo offers. Given there's a reduction in promo points (40k – Tranche 1 v 30k for this card), I'm going to assume it'd be too messy for Chase/Southwest anyway.
So do business cards affect 5/24 now? I thought business cards don’t affect 5/24 but were affected by 5/24??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Alaska have a similar offer? I received an email from Alaska for 30K points, 1K min spend, with by one get one companion pass (with paid ticket only). I think that is the difference…you can't use reward miles to get the companion pass.
I mostly fly myself, plus I'm over 5/24.
If I live near a SW hub I would of considered awhile back.

Just received a refection letter for this offer. I am new to points/miles game, opening 3 new cards in last year, one being CSR, one Barclay Hawaiian, and one Capital Savor. Their reason too many credit cards in last year. My new 3 cards were the first in 10 years. I have a credit rating of 823. Don't understand , anyone ever successful in asking Chase to reconsider? We fly Southwest a lot, which they know because I included rewards # on app.
I feel like it makes more sense to go for the 2 year path with 2 cards instead. Also, when do you qualify for a companion pass again after you qualify for your first one?
Bogus Offer! Southwest calls it a "companion pass" but it is one time use only!!!! I called Chase to ask about the offer and they informed me that the currently offered "companion pass" that is only good till the end of 2019 is "one time use only. it cannot be used for multiple flights" I asked repeatedly and they assured me it is one time use and it is not the same as the companion pass you get with the 110,000 miles earned in a calendar year….
I have a complaint about this card's perks that bothers me. The companion pass is the bomb, and is the main draw to this card. Add to the fact that Southwest is a great airline for families. With that being said, these cards should offer more than 4 priority boarding passes for the top tier card. I feel card members should be placed much higher in the board line than they are now. Or SW could allow assigned seating for card members. SW kinda neglects their card holders in this respect and needs to up the ante. Just my 2¢.
Good luck getting companion pass with this card. It's a numbers game. Southwest knows what 99% of their card customers spend and place the target just out of reach. You're better off going with a good cash back card like American Express Blue Cash.
